How it works
On arrival, the audience collect their souvenir vocal score/programmes and spend the first half of the evening with dynamic director, Ian McMillan, who teaches the audience their musical lines and dramatic roles! After the interval, they are joined by six costumed opera singers for the semi-staged performance, where anything can and often does happen!
Our distinguished cast includes principals from English National Opera, the legendary D’Oyly Carte and Carl Rosa Opera Companies, and have recorded most of the G&S Operas on DVD, and CD. They include;
John Ayldon , Rosie Ashe, Ian Belsey, Stephen Brown, Simon Butteriss, Deborah Crowe, Richard Coxon, Lou Crane, Barry Clark, Christopher Diffey, Bruce Graham, John Lofthouse, Guy Mott, Jill Pert, Rebecca Rudge, Graham Stone, Mark Siney, Oli White, Richard Woodhall
All our performances are accompanied at the Grand Piano by Ian, or conducted by him, using especially edited Orchestral parts we supply, for either The 24 piece London Operetta Orchestra (Sullivan’s original ‘pit’ orchestra size) or full Symphony Orchestra – as performed with the 56 piece Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and chorus, (and 1,800 sisters, cousins aunts and sailors in HMS Pinafore 4U! in July 2006)
HMS Pinafore 4U! additionally offers a rousing Patriotic Union Jack Flag waving finale to the lively chorus ‘For He Is An Englishman’! Hand held Union Jacks can be provided for that authentic ‘Last Night of The Proms’ patriotic atmosphere. (see our sound clip recorded by Sky TV at the Snape Maltings Aldeburgh Summer Proms 2010)
There are prizes for the best dressed members of the audience who dress in character!
